The new generation MESH router

MobiMESH Hybrid Mesh Router represents the new technological generation of routers made for high performance hybrid wireless mesh networks. Hybrid Mesh Routers in fact allow the integration of any transmission technology in the mesh network in a totally transparent way, thus granting the flexibility and the functionalities of MobiMESH' architecture and providing all of its benefits. MobiMESH' routing and management protocols, in fact, integrate in the overall network management and forwarding plan all the links, exploiting every technologiy's best advantages.

Hybrid mesh networks

Hybrid Mesh Routers are mesh routers that implement the same MobiMESH protocols and procedures that can be found into 2 and 4 radio Wireless Mesh Routers; Hybrid Mesh Routers are only equipped with LAN interfaces, to allow the connection of heterogeneous devices and technologies and to handle high network capacities. Hybrid Mesh Routers are in fact equipped with 10, 6 or 2 LAN interfaces, that can connect to any transmission device employing any standard technology that is capable of realizing a layer-2 link. The maeh backbone can therefore be composed by some licenced radio links, by some Hiperlan radio bridges, by PowerLine Communication segments, by fiber rings, etc, that work side by side with links made with the radio interfaces of the MobiMESH Wireless Mesh Routers. The mesh backbone is therefore defined a "hybrid backbone", because it allows the designer to employ the best available technology for every scenario, thus optimizing the resources and simplifying the overall project.

Carrier grade router 

When the network becomes a carrier grade network, and the required bandwidth is high, a network hierarchy becomes necessary. There must therefore be transportation backbones, with long distance and high capacity technologies, and secondary backhauls dedicated to distribution. The main primary-secondary connection points become critical and have to handle  outstanding network capacities.  MobiMESH' Hybrid Mesh Routers, thanks to the high processing power on board and to the availability of configuration with up to 10 Gigabit Ethernet interfaces, permits the easy realization of wide area and high throughput networks. 

Integration with legacy networks

Thanks to the Hybrid Mesh Router devices it is now possible to improve and expand legay networks made with various technologies, thus unifying under the same netowrk paradigm the whole architecture. It is then possible to expand existent networks and to realize a new generation MobMESH network which is simple yet powerful.

 

Application Scenarios

Carrier Grade Networks

Realizing a carrier grade network, with a main backhaul made with a fiber ring or with licenced radio bridges and a distribution network made with 5 GHz lincs is now straightforward; the junction nodes between the main backhaul and the distribution backhaul made with Hybrid Mesh Routers grant the availability of high processing power, besides the power and the flexibility of the MobiMESH protocols and procedures and in particular of the routing protocol and of its dynamic estimation of channel capacity.

Hybrid MuniWireless networks

In many a scenario the municipal network must be integrated with a legacy network infrastructure, already owned by the municipality (old Hiperlan radio bridges, optic fiber, PLC links, etc). By employing a MobiMESH Hybrid Mesh Router the needed integrated architecture can be easily realized by integrating in the mesh infrastructure the hetherogeneous technologies and making them cooperative with MobiMESH.

Hiperlan networks extension

In video-surveillance applications, when it is necessary to extend a network made by layer-2 Hiperlan bridges, the employment of Hybrid Mesh Routers permits to add to the architecture network protection features, as well as redundancy management and intra-flow avoidance mechanisms, made available by the MobiMESH routing protocol, exploiting the already made investment.
